If you’re a young parent, you are probably well aware that there’s an immense pressure on you to do everything right and to pick this baby food over that one and to discard those diapers in favor of these (which might be washable and more environment-friendly), and an endless list of other do’s and don’ts of modern-day parenting.

However, there’s one area when it comes to parenting that lets you breathe for a little while and allows you to get creative to make your child’s immediate surroundings more pleasant to be in and more supportive of its growth and progress.

In this article, we’re going to talk about baby nurseries and how you can make the one in your home look stylish, fun, and safe for your kids. What this is about is figuring out some basics when it comes to refurbishing this particular room, and the rest of it is entirely up to you.

Right then folks, without further ado, here’s the deal:

Use Washable Wallpaper

…for rather obvious reasons.

In case you are still clueless, you’d be surprised at how much of a mess even very small children can make, so the first step toward ensuring you don’t end up paying thousands upon thousands on reworks every couple of months would be to install washable wallpaper in your house.

Even though a baby won’t be able to do too much damage to the walls, what you have to take into account is that kids grow fast, so unless you plan to change the wallpaper after only a couple of years, make sure you fit a waterproof one if you’re refurbishing your kid’s room just now.

Pick a Kid-Friendly Theme

Now let washable wallpaper not ruin all your fun, so it might be time to start coming up with a stylish design for your kid’s nursery room.

Even though flashy colors and plenty of Disney characters would be the first images to spring to mind for this sort of purpose, many parents nowadays opt for soothing colors instead, such as light grey tones, or light blue or pink hues for the wallpaper color

Plus, if you want to keep up with the modern-day tendencies in nursery designs, the main idea is ‘less is more’, so go for a smaller crib, less unnecessary objects around the crib, and as much natural light as possible.

Install a Vinyl Floor

Again, we’re suggesting vinyl here for similar reasons as to why you need washable wallpaper.

The thing is, your kid’s room is going to get progressively messier as they get bigger, so having a surface below that can take a punch and face all the moisture, scratches, bumps ‘n’ thumps would undoubtedly be an advantage to having a surface that is difficult to clean and maintain.

Also, vinyl is relatively inexpensive, fairly easy to set up, and it can maximize the value of your home if you know what you’re doing. So, this would be another plus for this sort of solution.

If you live in Australia and want to get yourself one of these vinyl floors, you can check out a company called Carpet Right. These folks will have all the supplies you need to make this happen.

All in all, the most critical thing about nursery décor is to pay attention to the safety and ‘washability’ of all the items inside. After that, figuring out the theme for your baby’s room and finding the optimal colors for the walls and the ceiling is all entirely up to you. As long as it doesn’t scare the baby, and it makes it fall asleep easier, you’re good to go.
